I have to file A 2011 Tax Return?

 

If you are: You must file a tax return if your income is at least:
Single and under age 65   $9,500
Single and age 65 or older on January 1st of following year $10,950
Married and living together at the end of tax year:  
     Filing a joint return - Both Spouses under 65 $19,000
     Filing a joint return - One Spouse 65 or over $20,150
     Filing a joint return - Both Spouses 65 or over $21,300
     Filing a separate return (any age)  $3,700
Married and living apart at the end of tax year     Filing joint or separate return  $3,700
Head of Household maintained for a child or other relative  Age 65 or older on or before 1 Jan of the following year $13,650
Head of Household maintained for a child or other relative  Under age 65 $12,200
Widowed in 2009 or 2010 and have a dependent child and be under age 65

You must also file a tax return if:

You are self-employed and owe self-employment tax because your self-employed earnings are $400 or more.

You are entitled to a refund for overpayment of taxes.

You owe a special tax such as the Alternative Minimum Tax.
