IRS requires that tax preparers register and take a competency test prior to 2013 as well as participate in continuing education classes each year.  I will be taking the test in May, 2012.  I look forward to this as it will eliminate many unqualified preparers from our profession.  I will ensure that I can continue serving you with these new restrictions.
